Local Man Reports Theft of $17,000 through Forged Checks

Police reports from around Fountain Valley.

Forgery was reported from Mount Cliffwood Circle, Nov. 28 at 10:51 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) wrote five business checks using the victim's personal information and cashed out a total of $17,938.44. The victim stated that he still has the numbered checks that were used by the suspect(s) and does not recognize any of the names or addresses the checks were made out to.

Theft was reported from La Colonia Avenue, Nov. 28 at 5:59 p.m. An unknown suspect was seen removing two bills, which were placed on the clip of a mailbox for pick-up, before fleeing undetected.

A stolen vehicle was reported from FAM Vans on Kalama River Avenue, Nov. 28 at 3:52 p.m. After conducting an inventory, an employee noticed one van missing with no knowledge of the last time it was seen or its whereabouts.

Vandalism was reported from the Boys and Girls Club on Slater Avenue, Nov. 28 at 8:11 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) used an unknown object to shatter the north entrance glass pane window before fleeing undetected. Damage was estimated at $500.

Identity theft was reported from Azalea Avenue, Nov. 28 at 8:32 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) obtained the victim's personal information and opened three credit cards. The victim discovered the accounts when he received the cards in the mail. No loss was reported.

Theft was reported from La Rosa Lane, Nov. 27 at 8:57 p.m. Unknown suspect(s) entered an opened garage and removed $400 worth of property.

Theft from a vehicle was reported from the ground level of a residential parking area on Poly Court, Nov. 25 at 10:20 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) entered the vehicle through unknown means and fled with $1,070 worth of property before fleeing undetected.
