Police Chief Dan Llorens led his troops to an impressive 44-33 win after four straight losses to the Fire Department.

The fifth time was the charm.

That was the case for the Fountain Valley Police Department in Saturday night's Police vs. Fire Basketball Classic at Fountain Valley High School, as the police broke a four-year losing streak with a 43-33 win.

"It feels great," Police Chief Dan Llorens said. "Some of these guys have played in the preceeding four years and haven't won, so it's good for them to come away winners. We're glad to help out the girls basketball team, but it's also sweet to beat the fire department."

It was a back-and-forth game for the entire first half and most of the second until the Police Department went on a 10-0 run with eight minutes left in the game and never looked back.

"We had some great defense," Llorens said. "We decided to get in their faces this time and challenge them on every shot, and we did that. We had some good shots in the second period, so it was nice."
