Fountain Valley: A Nice Place to Walk?

One website says yes, giving the city a rating of 'very walkable.'

Fountain Valley has a reputation for being predominantly a bedroom community, with its residents often working, playing and shopping elsewhere. But how does it really match up with its cozier neighbors when it comes to being able to get places on foot? According to Walk Score, pretty well, giving Fountain Valley 72 out of a possible 100 points, making it "very walkable."

If you've ever searched for an apartment or home, you're probably familiar with Walk Score. The website evaluates the area around a given area and calculates a score based on the availability of various types of amenities that are within walking distance.

Fountain Valley's score was evaluated from the perceived center of the city at the corner of Brookhurst Street and Slater Avenue. From that area, residents are within half a mile's walk to seven restaurants, one coffee house, three grocery stores, three parks, the library, and five banks. Those willing to hoof it a bit farther can even get themselves to a movie theater just more than two miles away in neighboring Huntington Beach.
