A fuel spill at John Wayne Airport delayed a United Airlines Boeing 737 for about an hour, an airport official said.
The spill occurred at Gate 10 at the airport about 7:10 a.m. because of a problem with the aircraft, airport spokeswoman Jenny Wedge said.
The flight, set to depart for Houston at 8 a.m., departed about 9:05 a.m., she said. Airport contractors and Orange County Fire Authority crews helped sop up the jet fuel.
