Great Escape: Horse Time

Return to your childhood summers with a horseback ride.

Each week, we’ll tell you about one great idea to give you a much deserved break or make your life a little easier—maybe a whole lot easier.

When summer is approaching, I always think back to my youth and how magical summertime seemed. No school, and weeks of sunny days, pool time and summer activities. As an adult, it’s hard to recreate those wonderful summer feelings. We’re busy with work and home and shuffling the kids around, and it doesn’t seem all that different from the rest of the year.

To recapture that summer bliss, try an afternoon escape into one of your childhood activities, like horseback riding. There are many health benefits to riding; it provides the opportunity to learn new skills, gets the endorphines flowing from physical activity, strengthens muscle tone and improves balance. Peace and solitude with a horse can also give busy multi-taskers a break from doing 26 things at once.
