Need Help Sprucing Up Your Home?

Project Favors, a program created by the Fountain Valley Kiwanis Club, is looking for residents who need a hand with light house cleaning or yard work.

Do you need help cleaning up your house or tidying up your yard? If so, the Fountain Valley Kiwanis Club, with the help of local high school students, is available to lend a helping hand.

At least one Saturday per month, kiwanians roll up their sleeves to help residents with light house cleaning or yard work. Fountain Valley Kiwanis Club President Anne Crowley said the volunteer work includes window washing, vacuuming, trash removal, raking leaves and pulling weeds.

"We don't do this for someone who is just lazy, but instead for residents who really need a little bit of help," Crowley explained. "We do this for seniors, a hoarder's homes, veterans and others who can't do it all on their own."

Crowley said Project Favors not only helps needy residents, but it also teaches Fountain Valley students responsibility.

"Many of these students had never vacuumed or done many of the chores before they joined Project Savers," Crowley said. "We are trying to teach them responsibility and what they will be responsible for when they own a house."
