Party With Your Pets All June Long

Your pet can take you out for a day of fun.

Summertime is now in full swing, and there are many pet events in the Orange County area perfect for a sunny June afternoon activity. Although there are not any pet events in Fountain Valley, here is a list of activities this month just a quick car or bike ride away.

June 18: Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California 14th Annual Spring Games, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Arcadia Park, corner of Santa Anita and Huntington Drive in Arcadia. Relay races, kissing and drooling contests, tail wag-off, raffles and a beauty contest.

June 18: DAWG Walk, Pet Faire and Pancake Breakfast, 7 a.m. to noon, The Village Green, Mission Viejo. Annual dogfriendly event benefits D.A.W.G. (Dedicated Animal Welfare Group) and the Mission Viejo Animal Shelter.

June 18: Microchip Madness Chip-A-Thon, 1 to 4 p.m., Animal Hospital of Huntington Beach, 15021 Edwards Street, 714-898-0568, $15 per pet, cash only.

June 20: Paw Date Night at Fred's Mexican Cafe, 300 Pacific Coast Highway Huntington Beach,  7 to 9 p.m., benefiting O.C. Animal Care. Purchase a human entree and get a free Paw meal. To get a raffle ticket bring a new or lightly used toy or blanket for the dogs in O.C. Animal Care. The raffle prize is $50 in burrito bucks, which can be used for anything on the menu.

June 23: San Clemente Art Walk with local artists and live music; held from 6 to 9 p.m.; Dog-friendly galleries and vendors.

June 25: Under The Big Top Pet Fair, O.C. Animal Care, 561 The City Drive, Orange, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m; Free; pet-friendly vendors, demonstrations, costume contest. Food and fun for the whole family. More info at (877) 215-7297

June 26: Pet Photography Class, Irvine Animal Care Center, 6443 Oak Canyon Rd., Irvine, 1 p.m. Take better pictures of your furry friends with the help of professional photographer Lisa Scarsi. $15 for Irvine residents, $20 for non-Irvine residents.

June 26: Pups 'n' Pinot Wine Tasting; Benefits A Leg Up Rescue, The Newland House Barn, 19822 Beach Blvd. Huntington Beach, 2 to 6 p.m.; $30 per person; food, wine, entertainment, dancing and more.
