Gas Prices Starting to Tick Down

But records highs are still in place for the season.

Gas prices finally inched downward last week after months of climbing. They are still at record highs for this time of year, but it’s a little bit cheaper to fill up today than it was two weeks ago.

Orange County saw a third of a cent dip this week with the average cots of a gallon of regular coming in at $3.35, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Weekend Gas Watch.

To fill up today, it costs an average of 32 cents a gallon more than it did last January.

“There are now only 10 states with gas price averages under $3 a gallon, so Southern California is not alone in feeling pain at the pump,” said Auto Club spokesperson Jeffrey Spring. “The only other year when January prices were close to this high level was 2008, and on this date in 2008 they were almost 20 cents lower in most areas than they are today.”

The stations offering the lowest price for regular gas in Fountain Valley are listed below. Local prices are according to GasBuddy.com and reflect prices reported within the last 24 hours.
