OC Gas Prices Spike to Among the State's Highest

The price of a gallon of gas in Orange County has been climbing for 21 days straight.

The Orange County price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline rose for the 21st consecutive day, increasing 1.8 cents to $4.192, the highest amount since Oct. 29.

The Orange County average price is 11.1 cents more than one week ago, 52.3 cents higher than one month ago and 31.6 cents greater than one year ago. It is the third highest in the state, behind Los Angeles and Ventura ($4.197) counties.

The Orange County average price has risen 47.4 cents during the streak, the longest since a 21-day streak from July 29-Aug. 18.

The increasing prices are the result of reduced supplies caused by low levels of production in Southern California stemming from refinery maintenance, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.

We're shooting ourselves in the foot by forcing ourselves to buy only from the 6 refineries in California, I'd rather have cheap gas than clean air any day.

Maybe it’s 'JustMe,' but I don’t like the photo with the article. This is second time this photo has run with a gas price story and I’m not comfortable with the portrayal of the nozzle to the temple. How about some graphics showing the price over time, superimposed over a graph of the rise (or flatline) of wages? Any-hew, the rise in gas prices has gotta go along real well with the restoration of the SSA tax. I also heard that 21 out of the last 23 months wages have shrunk when adjusted for inflation. It's no wonder so many are looking for a binky. Happy times?
