Downed Power Line Knocks Out Electricity for 2,500 Customers

Power was expected to return at 2 a.m.

About 2,500 Southern California Edison customers in Fountain Valley lost electricity Thursday after a , blocking traffic in both directions.

Edison crews removed wires from the freeway and overhead, and were working to figure out what caused the line to fall, SCE spokesperson Mashi Nyssen said Thursday afternoon.

Crews were also working to restore power, with additional crews standing by if needed, Nyssen said. The exact location affected by the outage was not immediately known, but the blackout extended well into Thursday night.

Shortly after 10 p.m., SCE's website outage map estimated power wouldn't be restored until 2 a.m.
