DUI Checkpoint Set for Next Week

Fountain Valley police will also check drivers for valid licenses at the DUI checkpoint scheduled for Friday, July 5.

Fountain Valley police will set up a checkpoint next week to look for drunken drivers and invalid licenses.

The checkpoint will be held on Friday, July 5 from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. The location of the checkpoint will be made available on July 5 by contacting the police department at 714-593-4485.

According to a police department news release, over the past three years, 83 crashes have injured 107 people due to DUI collisions.

The penalty for a DUI conviction can include a fine of $10,000, time in jail, the loss of a driver’s license and increased insurance rates.

Funding for the operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
