Pope Benedict to Step Down

In a rare move, the pontiff will resign this month because of failing health, the Vatican announced Sunday.

In a highly unusual move, the Catholic Church’s Pope Benedict XVI plans to step down for health reasons, according to the Vatican.

As reported by Bloomberg News, the 85-year-old leader of the Roman Catholic Church will resign Feb. 28.

The 265^th pope, a German-born theologian, held the church’s highest position since 2005. His replacement will be selected by a conclave of cardinals.

I heard rumors that Obama is creating a new Cabinet department called: The Office of the Cross and the Sword (OCS) - and that Benedict may have stepped down prematurely after being nominated behind closed doors to take the Czar's seat. He has all the qualifications for the 2nd round Cabinet: White and male and willing to go along to get along. heh. And since the Vatican is really nothing more than a second arm of the Government it would be like a Wall Street banker accepting a job as Secretary of the Treasury. Just a revolving door. And Benedict always has a great relationship with the Muslim community so he and Obama should really hit it off.
