Defendants in three high-profile court cases with Fountain Valley connections are scheduled to make court appearances this week and early next.
On Thursday, arraignment is set for Miguel Mendoza. Mendoza, 20, of Orange, is accused of trying to seduce three Fountain Valley minors and sending them nude photos of himself in 2010. He allegedly met the three youths through an online cell phone application and began sending them nude pictures of himself in August 2010, authorities say. He is also accused of requesting that the three send nude pictures of themselves to him.
On Friday, a pretrial hearing is set in the case of Patricia Serrano, a 43-year-old Fountain Valley resident accused of having sex with a 12-year-old boy who was a friend of her son. On two occasions in October, the defendant is accused of having unlawful sex with the boy in her home and in a car, police said.
On Monday, a pretrial hearing is scheduled to continue in the case of Adam Garrett. Garrett, 19, is charged with felony hit-and-run death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in connection with the death of Hung Do of Fountain Valley. Garrett is accused of crashing into the back Do's bicycle and throwing Do from the bike. Do landed in the far right lane of Warner Avenue, and was eventually taken to the hospital, where he died shortly thereafter.
Garrett is also accused of fleeing the scene without assisting Do or contacting police and paramedics, as well as later placing a call to 911 and falsely identiyfing himself as a witness to the accident.
