Stranded Riders at Knott's Berry Farm Prompts Closures

The parent company of Knott's Berry Farm announces nationwide temporary closures of all Windseeker tower swings.

If you're headed to Knott's Berry Farm anytime soon don't plan on any thrills from the Windseeker. The ride has been shut down across theme parks nationwide following a ride malfunction this week, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Cedar Fair, the parent company of Knott's Berry Farm, will conduct an internal review to determine why the safety systems recently activated on the Windseeker rides at parks in California, Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina and Canada.

According to a company statement, Cedar Fair says the Windseeker ride will not reopen until the internal review is completed.

Knott's Berry Farm spokeswoman Jennifer Blazey said on Wednesday at about 4 p.m. the WindSeeker thrill ride left 20 people dangling some 300 feet in the air for more than three hours. A security system on the ride caused it to shut down, she said.

On Sept.7 the same ride left 15 riders stranded for three hours.
