Tuesday Essentials: 405 Toll Road, Major Freeway Closure and Lego Fun

Major Freeway Closure: The connector from the southbound San Diego Freeway (I-405) to the eastbound Garden Grove Freeway (SR-22) will be closed beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, July 26 continuing through 5 a.m. Monday, July 29.

405 Toll Road? OCTA will host a public hearing on proposals for expanding the 405 Freeway, including plans to add more lanes, carpool lanes or a toll road. The hearing will take place on Wednesday, July 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hill Classical Middle School, 1100 Iroquois Ave. in Long Beach. A series of informational boards will be set up around the meeting room, and project officials will be on hand to answer questions.

The Secrets Behind Computer Graphics in Film: Computer graphics whizzes will discuss the visual effects in such films as “Pacific Rim,'' “Superman: Man of Steel'' and Disney's “Frozen” at the 40th International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques, which runs through Thursday at the Anaheim Convention Center.
