Dog-Friendly 'Howling Halloween' Event Planned in Fountain Valley

This will be the event's second year, and will feature trick-or-treating, costume contests and games-- for both people and dogs.

Families are encouraged to head out to the Fountain Valley Recreation Center and Sports Park this weekend to celebrate the second annual Howling Halloween extravaganza.

The event, which is open to canine family members as well, will be held Sunday, Oct. 20, from noon to 5 p.m.

Organizers tell Patch that some of the activities on hand will include:

  • Costume Contest for Kids and Dogs
  • Games for Kids and Dogs
  • Entertainment
  • Gourmet Food Trucks
  •  Exhibitors
  • Adoptable Dogs
  • Community Food Drive Benefiting Needy Families in Fountain Valley and Shelter Animals at O.C. Animal Care
  • Opportunity Prizes
"This is the 2nd year for Howling Halloween in the Park and it invites out the entire community to participate in Halloween Fun while helping local non-profits with their Food Drive and finding Adoptable Dogs new homes," a press release promoting the event states.  "It's a super fun event and we hope that everyone can come out and join in the fun."

During the event, Desperate Paws of Orange County Dog Club will name the city of Fountain Valley one of the O.C.'s "top dog friendly cities."  That ceremony is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
