Fountain Valley Man Wins $62,000 in 43rd World Series of Poker

David Warady placed 95 out of 6,598 others players in Las Vegas.

He didn’t make the top nine, but he still made some big money.

Fountain Valley resident David Warady placed 95th in the 43rd World Series of Poker in Las Vegas July 15.

One of 6,598 players from all over the world, 55-year-old Warady won $62,021 in no-limit Texas Hold-'em, earning back much more than his original $10,000 buy-in for the event.

Before placing in the top 100, he also spent about $12,000 on buy-in for four other tournament events. 

Warady, a semi-retired managing consultant, told Patch that he was ecstatic about his performance.

"I didn’t come down from the experience for days," Warady said. "I could hardly get to sleep."

The series will take a break until October when the top nine players will return to Vegas to face off. 

The Top Nine

Seat 1:  Russell Thomas – Hartford, CT 
Seat 2:  Jacob Balsiger – Tempe, AZ 
Seat 3:  Jeremy Ausmus – Las Vegas, NV 
Seat 4:  Steven Gee – Sacramento, CA 
Seat 5:  Greg Merson – Laurel, MD 
Seat 6:  Jesse Sylvia – West Tisbury, MA 
Seat 7:  Robert Salaburu – San Antonio, TX 
Seat 8:  Andras Koroknai – Debrecen, Hungary 
Seat 9:  Michael Esposito – Seaford, NY

Each of these nine players are now guaranteed at least $754,798 in prize money regardless of their final performance.

The first place prize is $8,527,982, with added interest pending.

The final table will be played October 29-30 at the Rio Hotel and Casino.
