Clara Jane Nixon Dies in Orange County at Age 92

The sister-in-law of former President Richard Nixon passed away Saturday in Irvine.

Clara Jane Nixon, sister-in-law of former President Richard Nixon, died Saturday morning in Irvine. She was 93.

She was married to Don Nixon, one of four brothers of Richard Nixon, who would have turned 100 on Jan. 9.

The former president’s only surviving brother, Ed, remembered his sister-in-law on the Nixon Foundation website.

“Family and close friends of Clara Jane Nixon are united today sharing treasured memories of life with this great lady. Her passing this morning leaves us with feelings of regret for having too many unfinished conversations, but rejoicing in the faith that kept her above the everyday noise all around us.”

How many more are left of the Nixon's or their non-blood relatives? And I don't mean grand or great grandchildren. I mean of the immediate family of Tricky Dick's? You know.....children, brothers, sisters, in-laws, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, etc... What is Trisha (the daughter) doing these days? Is she still with us? Perhaps The Patch could do a follow-up article on how many are still living so we could keep a running tally. I would like to make one of my goals to outlive the entire clan, if possible. When I'm on my death bed if a loved one whispered in my ear "Yes, all the Nixon's have departed" I would go with a smile on my face. I am so tired of hearing about them.

If you're so tired of hearing about them, why even ask?

So I know in advance what to expect. Just out of courtesy, if nothing else. I dislike being exposed to another 'Nixon' related article by surprise. Just curious if he has any more 93 year old brother or sister-in-laws out there so I can brace myself. Now do you 'get it'?

Nixon was actually very liberal. Affirmative action and bussing minorities to "white" schools happened under Nixon's administration. Also, Nixon ended the Vietnam War- not soon enough, of course, but it was LBJ who escalated it to huge proportions. Of course, since he had a "D" by his name, he gets a free pass from this rather partisan and myopic crowd. Nixon is the Republican that liberals love to hate, but in truth he was rather liberal himself.

Just for the record, I am not a liberal, Amerikanish. In fact, quite the opposite, friend. I just hate liars and crooks, regardless of political affiliation. I am a rare bird in that regard. And I approve this message.

What a disgusting discourse on a nice old lady's passing. She had nothing to do with the President's mis deeds. If you can't say anything nice about someone, in death for God's sakes, then just be quiet. You must be a very unhappy person.
