18-Year-Old Pleads Not Guilty to Tagger Murder

Reda Hassan Safieddine, 18, will appear in court March 22 to set a date for a jury trial.

Reda Hassan Safieddine, 18, will face a jury rather than plead guilty to shooting to death a young man police describe as a rival tagger.

Sadfieddine appeared Monday before Orange County Superior Court Judge Greg Pickett to enter his not guilty plea to charges of murder, discharging a personal firearm causing death and brandishing a weapon.

He will next appear at a March 22 hearing set to schedule a jury trial.

Safieddine was arrested at the scene of the shooting death of Valle Valeriano, 17, of Santa Ana at about 1:20 p.m. Aug. 13, 2012, a few hours after arguing with him in a residential neighborhood near Cubbon Street and Mohawk Drive in Fountain Valley, police state.

Sadieddine remains out of jail after posting $1 million in bail.
