Homes Burglarized During Fumigation, Coyote Sightings in April Crime Report

Vehicle burglaries topped the list of police calls.

Twenty-nine vehicle burglaries were reported in Fountain Valley in April—an average of nearly one per day—as reported in the Fountain Valley Police Department's Crime Trends newsletter.

The single area reporting the most vehicle burglaries with six was reporting district 55, which covers the area south of Mile Square Park bordered by Brookhurst Street to the west, Slater Avenue to the north, Ward Street to the east and Warner Avenue to the South.

Twelve residential burglaries were reported during April, with two of those burglaries taking place at houses undergoing fumigation, and another resulting in the arrest of a suspect. Six commercial burglaries were reported.

The department also responded to five reports of stolen vehicles, three of which were recovered. No arrests have been made in any of those cases.

The monthly coyote observation log yielded seven total sightings, with two of those sightings involving multiple coyotes, and three sightings where there was evidence of coyotes preying on cats or dogs.
