Authorities Urge Caution After Sexual Assault at Major Shopping Center

A woman has reported she was attacked as she was getting into her car at the Westfield MainPlace.

Santa Ana police today urged people to be vigilant in the wake of a reported sexual assault in the parking garage at Westfield's MainPlace Mall.

A woman told police she was getting into her car and a man pushed her inside, brandished a weapon and sexually assaulted her about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The woman struggled free and ran for help, and the aggressor apparently stole some items before fleeing, police said.

Santa Ana police provided only a vague description of the suspect whose image may have been captured on video. Anyone with more information was asked to call Orange County Crime Stoppers, (855) TIP-OCCS.

No matter what time of the day it is, always be aware of your surroundings and look under your vehicle before entering. What happened to this woman was horrific and I certainly hope they do get a view of the suspect on survelliance.
