Report of Suspicious Package Closes Warner On-Ramp

Bomb squad evacuates area and CHP closes 405 freeway entrance for about two hours. The package turns out to be harmless.

Reports of a suspicious package prompted the closure of a 405 Freeway on-ramp Sunday morning in Fountain Valley, police said.

The incident began around 9 a.m. when police responded to the 9000 block of Warner Avenue, said Lt. Ken Hounsley of the Fountain Valley Police Department.

Officers arriving at the scene saw a package with what looked like a fuse coming out of it near a closed business, Hounsley said.

"The immediate area was evacuated and the Orange County Bomb Squad responded,'' Hounsley said in a statement.

The California Highway Patrol closed the Warner Avenue on-ramp to the north 405 while the investigation was underway. Officials determined the package was not a threat but possibly made as a prop, Hounsley said.
