Boy on Bike Hit by Car, Clings to Life

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Bushard Street and Rose Avenue.

A 15-year-old boy riding a bicycle suffered life-threatening injuries this morning in a collision with a car in Fountain Valley, police said.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Bushard Street and Rose Avenue, said Fountain Valley police Sgt. Steve DeSantis.

A Volvo sedan was southbound on Bushard Street when the bicyclist entered the street from the west curb line of Bushard north of Rose Avenue and the two collided, he said.

The Volvo's driver remained at the scene after the crash and the boy was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, DeSantis said.

A preliminary investigation found that the crash was not drug- or alcohol-related, he said.
