Boy on Bike Struck by Car in Fountian Valley Dies

Sean Severson succumbed to his injuries just four days before his 16th birthday.

The 15-year-old struck by a car Thursday in Fountain Valley while riding his bicycle died today, the Orange County Coroner’s office has confirmed.

Sean Severson of Westminster died at 11:50 a.m. today, just four days before his 16th birthday, according to a press release from the coroner’s.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Bushard Street and Rose Avenue, said Fountain Valley police Sgt. Steve DeSantis.

A Volvo sedan was southbound on Bushard Street when the bicyclist entered the street from the west curb line of Bushard north of Rose Avenue and the two collided, he said.

A preliminary investigation found that the crash was not drug- or alcohol-related, he said.
