Brush Fire Closes Portions of 405 Near Euclid Avenue

A small fire burned tress, grass, and shrubs, closing two lanes of the southbound 405.

A small section of the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway was closed down tonight when a small brush fire broke out along the side of the road near Euclid Avenue in Fountain Valley.

About a quarter-acre of trees, bushes and grass burned alongside the 405, forcing the closure of two lanes while crews battled the blaze, said Fountain Valley Fire Department Batallion Chief Tony Coppolino.

The call came in at 8:40 p.m. Three fire engines responded, extinguishing the fire by 9:15 p.m., added Coopolino.

“It’s hard to say exactly what got it started,” he added.

While the National Weather Service has issued strong wind and fire warnings through Monday, the wind was not a major factor in this fire, Coppolino said.
