Centennial Bank Reports Attempted Robbery

Police briefs from around Fountain Valley.

Vandalism was reported from a residence on Redwood Street on Sept. 27 at 5:09 p.m. Unknown suspect(s) tampered with the front door, causing damage of $250 before fleeing undetected.

A theft was reported from Los Amigos High School on Newhope Street near Heil Avenue on Sept. 26 at 6:42 a.m. During the weekend, unknown suspect(s) gained entry into the pool area by breaking the lock and removed $125 worth of property before fleeing undetected.

An $800 catalytic converter was reported stolen from a parking stall on Gloxinia Avenue on Sept. 25 at 9:41 p.m. Damage to the stall was estimated at $400. No suspect(s) were seen or heard.

Theft from a vehicle was reported at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Ward Street near Slater Avenue on Sept. 25 at 10:09 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) smashed a rear passenger window to remove $140 worth of property before fleeing undetected.

An attempted robbery was reported at Centennial Bank on Brookhurst Street near Garfield Avenue on Sept. 25 at 10:15 a.m. A suspect entered the business, displayed a handgun and demanded money, but was unsuccessful and fled empty-handed.

Vehicle vandalism was reported on Slater Avenue near Brookhurst Street on Sept. 25 at 8:04 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) punctured the a right tire and scratched the front passenger door while the vehicle had been parked on the northeast portion of the lot. No witnesses were reported.

Vehicle vandalism was reported on Santa Maria Street on Sept. 23 at 9:51 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear window, causing $300 worth of damage before fleeing undetected.

A $500 cell phone was reported stolen from a vehicle on Pike Avenue  on Sept. 22 at 10:13 p.m. Unknown suspect(s) reached inside the opened window for the property before fleeing undetected.

A theft was reported from Office Depot on Brookhurst Street near Talbert Avenue on Sept. 22 at 9:18 a.m. Suspect(s) used an unknown tool to remove $404.52 worth of merchandise from a display area and fled.
