Crime Up Across the Board for June

Coyotes sightings were also higher for the month.

Reported incidents were up in almost every major category in June, according to the latest Crime Watch newsletter released by the Fountain Valley Police Department.

Vehicle burglaries were once again the most heavily reported crime with 26 incidents reported, up from 20 last month. Six of those were reported in the area between Warner Avenue and Talbert Avenue—three just west of Interstate 405, and three more just to the northeast of the freeway.

Four cars were reported stolen, up from three in May, with three of the stolen cars recovered and no arrests made. Eight commercial burglaries were reported, up from five in May, with no arrests made. Residential burglaries were the only type of incident for which reports were dow with 11, one fewer than were reported in May.

Coyote sightings were up for the second straight month with 10, one more than the nine sightings reported in May. One sighting involved multiple coyotes, and that same sighting involved the coyotes preying on a dog. Four of the sightings occurred just west of the Santa Ana River in the area between Slater Avenue and Talbert Avenue.
