Cyclist Struck by 80-Year-Old Fountain Valley Driver Dies

Brian Chattaway was not immediately cited.

A 44-year-old Costa Mesa woman who was struck by a pickup while riding a bicycle in Huntington Beach died Thursday.

Kathy Sieberhein was pronounced dead at 12:47 a.m. at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where she was taken after being struck by the vehicle Wednesday night, according to the Orange County Coroner's Office.

Police were called about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday to the scene of the collision at Adams Avenue and Ranger Lane, according to Huntington Beach police Sgt. David Dereszynski.

Sieberhein was riding west on Adams Avenue when was hit by a 2001 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck, which was also westbound, according to Dereszynski.

The pickup truck driver, Brian Chattaway, 80, of Fountain Valley, was not immediately cited, according to Dereszynski.
