The pedestrian was walking in a crosswalk Monday afternoon when the crash occurred.

An elderly pedestrian suffered traumatic injuries Monday after being struck by a car, Fountain Valley Police reported.

The crash occurred about 4:10 p.m. at the intersection of Warner Avenue and Mt. Hope Street. According to a police news release, a Toyota Camry was driving on Mt. Hope Street and made a left turn onto Warner Avenue. At the same time, the elderly pedestrian was walking in the crosswalk on northbound Mt Hope. Police say the driver of the Camry failed to yield to the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange with traumatic, but non-life threatening injuries, police reported.

A preliminary investigation showed alcohol or drugs were not contributing factors in the crash.
