Every Fountain Valley Resident Will Get 'AlertOC' Call Thursday

If you don't receive the call, your number isn't registered to receive emergency notification of dangers such as wildfires or pending tsunamis.

Two million Orange County residents including those in Fountain Valley will receive an important phone call this week, courtesy of a countywide emergency notification test.

The phone call from AlertOC is scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m. The call is part of the system's annual test and will be sent to all listed landlines in the county. Business lines will not receive the call. The message will last about 60 seconds and is intended to remind residents about the system and test internal activation procedures.

The AlertOC system was designed to give city officials the ability to communicate with residents about time-sensitive, emergency and public safety matters that could affect them. It’s how Seal Beach residents were notified of the tsunami danger this spring following the catastrophic quake in Japan. It is also a tool that should be part of everyone's .
