Fountain Valley Police Select Their Office of the Year, Oscar Valencia

The Fountain Valley Police Officers’ Association recently selected Officer Oscar
Valencia as the Fountain Valley Police Officer of the Year for 2013.

Officer Valencia is originally from Zihuatanejo, México. He graduated from Century High School in Santa Ana and is a veteran of the United States Navy having served aboard the USS Wasp.

Officer Valencia attended the Fullerton Police Academy and was serving as an Officer with the Beaumont Police Department when he was hired by the city of Fountain Valley in 2004. Officer Valencia is a member of the West Orange County SWAT team. 

Officer Valencia was selected by his peers in part because of his willingness to help his fellow Officers, sharing his knowledge, experience and strong adherence to teamwork. 

Officer Valencia has been repeatedly commended by members of the public for his compassion, courtesy, and respect shown to individuals of many walks of life whom he encounters. Officer Valencia is frequently called upon to use his bilingual skills to assist the public. Officer Valencia exhibits a positive attitude and provides the highest level of service to the community at all times. 

Officer Valencia, a resident of Orange County, is married and is the father of two 
daughters.
