Fountain Valley Police to Hold DUI Checkpoint This Weekend

The checkpoint is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 30, according to the Fountain Valley Police Department.

Police will be holding a driver's license/DUI checkpoint this weekend in Fountain Valley, it was announced Monday.

The sobriety operation is planned for Friday, Aug. 30 at an undisclosed location in town, beginning at 9 p.m., according to Sgt. Steve DeSantis.

"The Department is continuing its ongoing campaign to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved crashes," DeSantis said in a press release.  "DUI checkpoints are conducted to identify offenders and get them off the street, as well as bring awareness to our community of the dangers of impaired driving."

The six-hour-long operation is funded through state and federal grants, according to the sergeant.
