FVPD Swears in New Officer Tuesday

The new recruit is a former U.S. Marine.

The Fountain Valley Police Department Tuesday will conduct a badge ceremony to recognize their new hire Mitchell Martinez.

Police Chief Daniel S. Llorens in will swear in Martinez at 3 p.m. in the Fountain Valley Council Chambers, 10200 Slater Avenue, according to a release from the city.

Martinez grew up in Mission Viejo where he was an Orange County Sheriff’s Explorerf rom age 14-17, the release states. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as an Infantry Machine Gunner for four years. During his service in the Marine Corps, he completed two combat deployments to Iraq before being honorably discharged, according to the release. 

Martinez then worked for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in the jail at Twin Towers Correctional Facility.

In 2011, Martinez started with the Rialto Police Department until he was hired by Fountain Valley.

Mitchell married his wife Cassandra in April of this year. In his spare time, Mitchell enjoys spending time with his wife and watching hockey and baseball games, according to the release from the city.
