Report Graffiti, Earn up to $500 from Fountain Valley

A Fountain Valley program rewards locals who report graffiti, resulting in the arrest and conviction of vandals.

If you're looking to make a little extra cash, you might want to want to consider graffiti.

Reporting it, that is.

The city announced a program Friday that rewards people up to $500 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person defacing public or private property in Fountain Valley.

"We have taken an aggressive stance against graffiti vandals and taggers in our community," staff said in a statement posted on the city's web site. "Please help us in these efforts by reporting graffiti incidents so that we can arrest the vandals and immediately repair the damage."

If residents report graffiti quickly, it increases the chance of removing the paint, as it may not have had the chance to completely bond with the surface of the vandalized object, city staff says.

Locals have several options when it comes to reporting graffiti:

1. Anonymously report information about graffiti suspects and incidents at 714-593-4504.
2. Report graffiti via email at graffitiwatch@fountainvalley.org.
3. If you witness a vandalism in-progress, call the police department at 9-1-1.

For more information, call the Fountain Valley Police Department at 714-593-4485 or visit www.fvpd.org
