Local Church Reports Graffiti Containing Profanity

Police briefs from around Fountain Valley.

Graffiti was reported from Fountain Valley United Methodist School on Bushard Street and Swift Avenue, April 13 at 8:30 p.m. Unknown suspect(s) gained access to the preschool courtyard by climbing over a five-foot block wall and used black pen to write profanity and various phrases on playground equipment and classroom doors. A common word, "Hai," was written several times, which can mean "two" or a person's name in Vietnamese. No witnesses were reported. Property damages were estimated at $1,000.

A woman reported a $200 bicycle stolen while parked at Los Caballeros on Newhope Street near Warner Avenue, April 12 at 6:28 p.m. Unknown suspect(s) had cut open the bike lock and fled undetected with the property.

A $300 catalytic converter was reported stolen from a 2002 Toyota Tacoma on Amethyst Court near Mount Tahat Court, April 11 at 5:05 p.m. Investigators concluded that unknown suspect(s) used a heated instrument to melt the catalytic converter off, causing additional damage to other parts of the vehicle. No witnesses were reported.

A $500 vehicle seat was stolen from a 1994 Toyota pickup truck on Harbor Boulevard, April 11 at 5:38 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry to the vehicle by breaking the front passenger window, and fled undetected with the front driver and passenger bench. Vehicle damages were estimated at $200.

A woman reported $385 worth of property stolen from a 2008 Buick Lucerne on Brookhurst Street and Warner Avenue near Sam's Club, April 10 at 2:18 p.m. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry into the unlocked vehicle and fled undetected with a purse and a camera, which was placed on the front passenger floorboard hidden under a sweater.

Theft was reported from Arco gas station on Brookhurst Street and Ellis Avenue, April 9 at 5:42 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry into the business by breaking a door and fled undetected with $480 worth of merchandise. Property damages were estimated at $600. 

Theft was reported from a business on Garfield Avenue near Magnolia Street, April 6 at 8:19 p.m. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry by breaking the front door and cutting the lock pad and fled undetected with $190 from the cash register. Property damages were estimated at $1,600.
