A tip leads Fountain Valley police detectives to John Mclaughlin, a Long Beach parolee.

A witness tip led Fountain Valley police to arrest a parolee for allegedly robbing a local bank, police reported.

John Mclaughlin, 35, of Long Beach, was taken into custody about 7:48 p.m. Monday in Long Beach and booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of robbery, possession of methamphetamine and a parole violation, according to Fountain Valley police Sgt. Ted Valle.

Detectives were tipped off after receiving information from a witness at a nearby bank who saw the suspect "acting suspiciously" just before Friday's robbery at the Citibank in Fountain Valley.
