More Catalytic Converters Reported Stolen from High-Profile Vehicles

Theft from a vehicle was reported on Talbert Avenue near Brookhurst Street at LA Fitness, June 6 at 8:08 p.m. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry through the driver's side with a key and took $1,350 worth of property from the trunk, including a wallet and a laptop computer before fleeing undetected.

A $1,300 catalytic converter was reported stolen from a 1998 Toyota 4Runner on Warner Avenue near Newhope Street, June 6 at 6:02 p.m. No suspect(s) were seen or heard.

Vehicle vandalism was reported on Hawthorn Street, June 6 at 5:04 a.m. The vehicle owner reported hearing a loud sound and tires screeching before stepping out to the scene and finding her vehicle's front and rear windows smashed. Damage was estimated at $500.

A $430 GPS device was reported stolen from a vehicle on Newhope Street near Warner Avenue, June 5 at 3:34 p.m. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry by prying open the driver's side door, causing $150 worth of damage before fleeing undetected.

A $350 car stereo was reported stolen from Quartz Avenue, June 3 at 8:31 p.m. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry with an unknown tool to cut through the vehicle's soft convertible top, causing $1,500 worth of damage before fleeing undetected.

Burglary was reported from Azteca Realty on Harbor Boulevard and Heil Avenue, June 2 at 7:37 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry with an unknown tool to break the front glass door before fleeing undetected with a $300 printer. Damage was estimated at $300.

A man reported that he was assaulted after a basketball game on Brookhurst Street near Heil Avenue, June 1 at 4:29 p.m. As a result, the victim left the area, away from the suspect, with a broken nose, bruises and swelling under the left eye.

A $200 catalytic converter was reported stolen from a 1995 Toyota 4Runner on La Alameda Avenue and San Mateo Street, June 1 at 9:27 a.m. No suspects were seen or heard.

A $750 television set was reported stolen from a hotel room at Marriott Residence Inn on Slater Avenue and Brookhurst Street, May 30 at 5:55 p.m. The business discovered that the credit card and telephone number provided by the guest were fraudulent.

A man reported shoplifting in progress at Costco on Newhope Street and Talbert Avenue, May 29 at 10:59 am. The suspect was seen cutting open wrapped merchandise and concealing the product before exiting the warehouse. The witness attempted to detain the suspect outside of the business, but the suspect fled southbound through the parking lot and was last seen fleeing toward Talbert Avenue. Property loss was estimated at $579.97.

A $700 laptop computer was reported stolen from a vehicle on Kalama River Avenue at Fry's Electronics, May 28 at 6:05 p.m. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry by breaking the right rear passenger window, causing $1,000 worth of damage before fleeing undetected.
