A 50-year-old Huntington Beach man was sentenced today to two years in jail for stealing automated teller machines and hauling them off with his truck.
Richard Allen Clements pleaded guilty Feb. 10 to one felony count of grand theft of personal property.
Clements was caught on surveillance cameras placing straps around the cash machines, attaching them his truck, then driving off with the clunky machines in tow.
Some of the machines stolen held a few thousand dollars, according to prosecutors, who said they were expensive to repair or replace.
Under the terms of his negotiated plea agreement, Clements is expected to be ordered to pay restitution. A hearing is scheduled for May 9.
