Pretrial Delayed for Suspected 'Wrong Way Bandit'

Jose Arciga's lawyer asked to delay Thursday's scheduled pretrial hearing until Friday morning and told the court the case could be resolved soon.

A scheduled pretrial hearing Thursday for the suspected "Wrong Way Bandit" was delayed until Friday morning, but defense counsel in the case told the court the case might be resolved by then.

Jose Luis Arciga, 40, of Santa Ana, was arrested in March by Garden Grove police and  of second-degree robbery and three counts of attempted second-degree robbery, with sentence-enhancing gun-use allegations.

Scott Van Camp, Arciga's attorney, asked Superior Court Judge Debra Carrillo on Thursday to delay Arciga's scheduled pretrial hearing by just one day, until Friday morning, but said the case could be resolved. Orange County district attorney spokesperson Farrah Emami could not confirm whether a plea deal was pending in the case.

Arciga is being held at the Orange County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
