Suspect Arrested in Connection with Fountain Valley Bomb Threat

Son Hoang Vuong has been charged with felony counts of filing a false bomb report and false personation.

An Irvine man was arrested Wednesday in connection with three alleged bomb threats, one of which was made against the in Fountain Valley.

Son Hoang Vuong, 26, was arrested by Irvine Police on suspicion of filing a false bomb report and false personation, both felonies. Vuong is suspected of having made bomb threats in Irvine and Westminster in addition to the one he allegedly made in Fountain Valley.

Fountain Valley Police sgt. Matt Sheppard said Vuong called the Fountain Valley Police Deparment on July 16 and told officers he'd placed 10 bombs inside the Performing Arts Center. Officers evacuated the building and called in the Orange County bomb squad, which found no signs of any explosives having been planted.

Vuong is being held without bail at the Orange County Jail. He is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on Aug. 11.
