Suspect Reportedly Steals PS3 from Residence by Posing as Potential Renter

Police briefs from around Fountain Valley.

Theft was reported from a residence on Maple Street, Sept. 3 at 7:22 p.m. The victim witnessed the suspect, who was identified as an applicant seeking to rent a room from the residence, entered the opened garage and fled into a waiting vehicle with a $300 PlayStation 3. The suspect vehicle was last seen driving northbound on Maple Street.

Vehicle vandalism was reported from Z Cater Inc. on Newhope Street near Coley River Circle, Sept. 6 at 12:39 p.m. Unknown suspect(s) punched a door lock of the vehicle  parked on the south side of the business, causing estimated damage of $200. No property was reported stolen.

Vehicle vandalism was reported from a carport on San Mateo Street, Sept. 2 at 4:47 p.m. Unknown suspect(s) entered the secured vehicle through unknown means and fled undetected with a $180 car stereo. No signs of forced entry were reported.

A $300 catalytic converter was reported stolen from Shamrock Avenue, Sept. 2 at 10:04 a.m. No suspect(s) were seen or heard.

Identify theft was reported on Brookhurst Street, Sept. 1 at 2:16 p.m. The victim discovered his wallet missing and when checking his online bank statement, three fraudulent charges totaling $466.43 were made. The victim was notified by the bank that he will not be reimbursed because all the false charges had identical signatures.

Graffiti was reported Sept. 1 at 11:24 p.m. on Harbor Boulevard. Unknown suspect(s) used spray paint to write “RTB,” “RTBC” and “SAW” on the exterior of two businesses. Damage was estimated at $250.
