Two Killed in Huntington Beach Crash

A single-car crash in Huntington Beach today left a man and a woman dead, police said.

A single-car crash in Huntington Beach today left a man and a woman dead, police said.

The pair died at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 5:20 a.m. at Ellis Avenue and Main Street, said Huntington Beach police Lt. Gary Faust. The names of the dead were withheld, pending notification of their relatives.

According to the preliminary investigation, a Honda sedan was traveling westbound on Ellis Avenue at a high rate of speed when it failed to negotiate a turn at Main Street, just west of Beach Boulevard, and crashed into a palm tree, Faust said. There were no survivors.

Traffic was routed away from the area while an investigation was conducted.
