Vehicle Burglaries Down in May, but Coyote Sightings Increase

Almost a third of last month's car break-ins were reported within a two-block area.

Vehicle burglaries were down for the month of May but once again dominated the Fountain Valley Police Department's monthly crime watch statistics, with 20 reported.

Six of the reported vehicle burglaries occurred in a two-block area just east of the 405 freeway between Talbert Avenue and Slater Avenue. Three cars were stolen, all of which were recovered by police, with no arrests as of yet.

Police also responded to 12 residential burglaries in May, the same number as had been reported the month before. In one of those cases, three suspects were arrested. The department also responded to five commercial burglaries with no arrests.
