Parolee Wanted for Theft, DUI Is Arrested After Chase
Ivan Pineda, 36, of Garden Grove was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and drug possession, as well as on outstanding warrants for vehicle theft and DUI.
A parolee wanted for car theft and DUI was arrested early Monday by Fountain Valley police after a pursuit that ended in Santa Ana.
According to police, officers first spotted Ivan Jain Pineda, 29, of Garden Grove near the corner of Edinger Avenue and Harbor Boulevard near the eastern edge of Fountain Valley. Officers ran the plates of the car Pineda was driving, which came up as stolen.
When officers attempted to stop the car, it quickly accelerated and tried to evade them. After a short into pursuit into a residential tract in Santa Ana, Pineda and a male passenger abandoned the vehicle and ran off. Responding officers were quickly able to take the suspect into custody without further incident.

Officers searched Pineda and found a substance believed to be methamphetamine. Pineda was booked at Orange County Jail on suspicion of felony vehicle theft and drug possession, and on the outstanding warrants.
