Lexus Hits, Critically Injures Woman

The Fountain Valley pedestrian suffers head and neck injuries.

A Lexus hit a 27-year-old woman in Fountain Valley late Wednesday, leaving her in critical condition, police said.

Jessica Ayon was taken to UCI Medical Center with life-threatening injuries after the 10 p.m. accident, which occurred near the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Ellis Avenue.

"She had head trauma, and she was unconscious at the scene,” said Fountain Valley Police Sgt. Steve DeSantis. “She’s got a skull fracture and some pretty serious neck injuries.”

As of Thursday afternoon, Ayon was listed in “critical but stable condition,” DeSantis said.

Investigators believe the driver was heading north on Brookhurst in a Lexus IS350 when the car hit Ayon, who was in the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk.

Preliminary investigations ruled out drugs or alcohol as a factor.

Witnesses are asked to contact the Fountain Valley Police Department at 714-593-4484.
