Woman Who Stabbed Boyfriend in Fountain Valley Gets 5 Years

A 47-year-old woman who stabbed her boyfriend multiple times in Fountain Valley because he said he wanted to die was sentenced today to five years in prison.

Lauren Beatriz Pettit pleaded guilty in July to domestic violence and admitted a sentencing enhancement for inflicting great bodily injury on her 33- year-old boyfriend.

The stabbing happened about 7:35 p.m. on July 9, 2012, in a home in the 9300 block of Clover Court.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he underwent surgery and later recovered.

The victim mistakenly thought he was dying, so he asked Pettit to stab him slowly at first so he could get used to it, Deputy District Attorney Terry Cleaveland said.

Pettit called police and waited for officers, Cleaveland said.

An attempted murder charge with enhancements for using a deadly weapon and great bodily injury were dropped.
