Youth On Probation Stabs Shopper In Supermarket Carjack, Police Say

A 17-year-old parolee stabbed a man four times in a carjacking attempt outside a Fountain Valley supermarket, leaving the victim critically injured, police said Sunday.

The youth ran into the night from the bloody scene at the Stater Brothers supermarket, 11085 Warner Ave., at 8:55 p.m. Saturday, but was arrested one block away.

Officers rushing to the stabbing found the victim suffering from about four stab wounds in the upper torso, according to a department statement.

The victim had been walking to his car in the parking after buying some groceries when he was reportedly confronted by the boy, who demanded his car keys, officers related.

Police fanned out and found the suspect one block away. He is a 17-year- old boy from Fountain Valley who matched the suspect's description.

Taken back to the supermarket, he was positively identified by multiple witnesses, police said.

The suspect was currently on probation for undisclosed crimes. He was arrested for attempted carjacking and attempted murder, and booked into the Orange County Juvenile Hall, police said.
