City to Begin Preliminary Labor Negotiations

Firefighters, other city employee groups to meet with city manager.

In a closed session before tonight's Fountain Valley City Council meeting, City Manager Ray Kromer and Personnel Manager Jean Harai will begin preliminary labor negotiations with several factions of city workers.

The city will be entering into the negotiations with representatives from the Fountain Valley Firefighters Association IAFF Local 4530, the Professional and Technical Association, the Fountain Valley General Employees Association and the Fountain Valley Municipal Employees Association, as well as individually represented battalion chiefs from the fire department. Police department employees still have one year left on their contract.

During the regular session of tonight's meeting, the council will decide whether to enter into an agreement with the City of Garden Grove under which Garden Grove City Clerk Kathy Bailor would provide her services to Fountain Valley for about $85 an hour.
