Great Escape: Garden Party

Enjoy a rummage sale, planting demo and Italian sodas at the Friends of the Library Spring Magic event.

Each week, we’ll tell you about one great idea to give you a much deserved break or make your life a little easier—maybe a whole lot easier.

Do you love a good rummage and garden sale? Then the perfect escape is a visit to Spring Magic, the Friends of the Fountain Valley Library annual Home and Garden Sale. The event is being held this Saturday at the library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tables with be set up throughout the library community room and patio, each with a theme relating to home and garden, such as décor, kitchen, entertaining,  and gardening. Each table will offer non-fiction books relating to that table’s theme, as well as donated goods for sale.

At 11 a.m. on the patio, master gardener Patty Swaaley will speak and give a demonstration on the planting and care of succulents.

The Friends of the Library is an all-volunteer group that supports the library by purchasing items that are needed above and beyond what the budget can handle. In the past few years, they have purchased all new patio furniture, re-upholstered the armchairs in the library and purchased all the public-use computers for the library. In addition, they provide the funding for programs like the Children’s Reading Program and various entertainment programs.

Admission is free, and lemonade and cookies will be served on the patio.  This year, for the first time, in front of the library, the FOL will be making and selling Italian sodas.
