O.C. Wastewater Rates Set to Rise

The sanitation district is planning to increase yearly fees $70 over the next eight years.

The Orange County Sanitation District is planning to raise its yearly rate $70 over the next eight years, the Orange County Register is reporting.

But it doesn't look like it will be unanimous." I’m going to be voting against it," O.C. Supervisor Janet Nguyen, one of 25 members of the board, said of the rate increase that would start in July 2013. "I don’t think we should place more burden on families.”

The district says the rate hike is to cover inflation of cost of chemicals, fuel and hauling of biosolids.

Ratepayers are being notified by mail of the proposal, and the item will be taken up by the board Feb. 27. There will be a public hearing on the matter March 27.

It's the same old ruse of asking for the absurd ($70 increase over 8 years) and the Supervisors will approve the ludicrous ($50 increase over 8 years) and call it a victory for the taxpayers. Medical insurance costs will soar under ObamaCare. Electricity rates are going through the roof. Water bills are rising. Yet the average salary is stagnant or even falling. And as soon as Obama grants amnesty for 15 million illegals it will drive the average wage down even further. They tell us that inflation is under control at about 3% but look at your grocery costs, the price of gas, medical costs, utility costs, housing costs, etc... and use your common sense. Do you really believe that inflation is 3%? If so, I have ocean front property in AZ for sale on the cheap. It will get to the point that the cost of simply living a mediocre lifestyle will become unsustainable. And we can embrace living in banana republic heaven. I feel so, so sorry for the younger generations. Most have no idea of what's coming. The baby boomers have turned them into future debt slaves.

Bill, I would be unelectable. Neither of the 2 major parties would have anything to do with me. And I would be cut out of the money chain. I wouldn't be able to afford to buy a seat. Besides, I would tell the people the truth and they would hate me for it. I would have a better chance at peeing into a 100mph headwind and not getting any on myself. hah! Happy New Years, Bill. You seem to be one of the few on these boards who makes any sense. God bless ya.
